The U.S. economy has been hit hard by the recession, and the unemployment rate hit 7.8% in November.
But some economists say WalMart should consider hiring more people as a way to create jobs.
Walmart is the world’s largest retail chain, and its computers are used in more than 70% of its stores.
It has been working to recruit and retain more people at the company.
“We know that if we’re not hiring more, then we’re losing those jobs that we have and our employees are going to lose those jobs,” WalMart CEO Kevin Plank said in an interview with Bloomberg News.
WalMart has hired more than 4.2 million people since 2009.
The company expects to hire at least 1.4 million people in 2017.
